The idea behind bodywork is that people learn, or are forced by injury or stress into unnatural ways of moving or holding their bodies. This causes discomfort and may contribute to health problems.
The main goal of Holistic Bodywork is to better flexibility and extension thus promoting musculoskeletal alignment, increasing the range of motion; reducing or eliminating soft tissue inflammation; inducing relaxation; improving contractile and non-contractile tissue repair, extensibility, and/or stability; facilitating movement; and improving function.
As part of manual therapy, it uses different techniques to suit every particular case, which might include mobilisation and manipulation of the muscles bones and joints, stretches, massage and pressure point.
This is a form of therapy that works both for prevention of lesion and pain relief. Your therapist can also instruct you on exercises you can do at home as part of the treatment.
The aim of bodywork is to realign and reposition the body to allow natural, graceful movement. Bodywork, along with identifying possible contributing causes of unnatural movement and posture, is perfect for reducing stress and easing the pain. We use massage, pressure, myofascial release, mobilisation and manipulation of muscles bones and joints to achieve our goals.
